From Fes, we’ll climb into the Middle Atlas Mountains. Take in the fresh air and stunning mountain views as we wind through Berber villages. Keep an eye open for cedar forests – maybe you’ll even spot some monkeys!
Next stop: the Sahara Desert! Merzouga awaits, with its massive dunes that seem to stretch forever. Here, you’ll get a once-in-a-lifetime experience riding a camel across the dunes and camping under a star-filled sky.
Leaving the desert behind, we’ll travel through the dramatic Todra Gorges, a narrow canyon carved by the Todra River. The towering cliffs are an incredible sight!
We’ll see the Dades Valley, nicknamed “Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs.” Kasbahs are traditional Moroccan forts or castles, and there is plenty to admire here!

Day 1: Fes to Merzouga

We start in Fes and head towards the Sahara Desert. We’ll stop in the charming “Switzerland of Morocco,” Ifrane, and see the beautiful Cedar Forest. We’ll also pass through Zaida, Midelt, and the Ziz Valley, Morocco’s date capital! Finally, we reach Merzouga, where you can ride camels, spend a night in a desert camp, and enjoy Berber music under the stars.

Day 2: Merzouga desert tour

We delve deeper into the desert! We’ll visit the Morocco National Auto Museum and see a performance by the Gnaoua people, known for their unique music and dance. We’ll also explore a former French mine and learn about Berber nomads with fascinating lifestyles. You’ll see stunning desert landscapes like the Hassi Labied oasis and a desert lake.

Day 3: Merzouga to Boumalne dades

After breakfast, we head towards Dades Gorges. We’ll stop in Tinjedad and Tinghir to explore the local markets (souks). Then, we’ll travel through rural villages before reaching the breathtaking Todgha Canyons. You’ll spend the night in Dades Gorges.

Day 4: Boumalne Dades to Marrakech

We continue towards Marrakech, driving through the scenic High Atlas Mountains. We’ll pass through the Rose Valley, famous for its cosmetics, and see the Amrhidil Kasbah in Skoura. Next, we’ll head to Ouarzazate, where you can see the famous Atlas Studios, a popular movie filming location. We’ll also visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Ait Ben Haddou, before reaching the bustling city of Marrakech!

Zaida

Sounds like you’re interested in a charming Moroccan escape! Zaida, a town of around 5,000 people, is known for its peaceful agricultural way of life. Many locals grow apples, olives, and grains. This relatively new town was built in the 20th century at a crossroads, making it a popular weekend getaway for people from the nearby city of Midelt.

Ouled Chaker or Ziz Valley

The Ziz Valley is a beautiful area in eastern Morocco, known for its lush palm groves and dramatic scenery. One of the villages located within the Ziz Valley is called Ouled Chaker. This village is famous for its palm grove, known as the Ouled Chaker palm grove. Date palms are an important part of life in the Ziz Valley, and the Ouled Chaker grove is a particularly scenic example. If you’re ever in the area, it’s worth a visit!

The New Year in the Sahara Desert sounds amazing! Imagine delicious food, fantastic music, and a festive atmosphere – like stepping into a real-life fairytale! My friends and I had a blast celebrating with a party, fireworks, and live music. The desert camp was beautiful and filled with joy. I was having so much fun I barely took photos, but I got some awesome videos on Facebook (hit me up if you want to see them!). Overall, the experience was incredible – the desert scenery was stunning, but the amazing celebration made it unforgettable. If you’re looking for a unique way to celebrate New Year’s Eve, this is something to consider!

We got to experience bustling cities like Tangier and Fes, learning about Moroccan culture, including the Berber way of life. The highlight for me was the Sahara Desert. We rode camels through the dunes and spent the night under a sky full of constellations – it was breathtaking! The food was delicious too, we got to explore the incredible Caves of Hercules for free! We started in Tangier with a delicious dinner, then headed to Fes where we saw the most beautiful mosque in the city. A few days later, we arrived in Merzouga late at night but were warmly welcomed. We stayed in a beautiful and cozy Riad, had a fantastic breakfast, and then set off on our camel trek into the desert. Spending the night in a traditional tent (khaima) under the stars with such great company was an unforgettable experience. This trip was so amazing, I can’t wait to do it again!
