2-day Tour From Marrakech To Zagora

Our desert adventure kicks off in Marrakech! We’ll pick you up from your hotel and head straight for the mighty High Atlas Mountains. Get ready for stunning views as we wind our way up, making a stop at an argan cooperative to see how they make argan oil (a Moroccan specialty!). We’ll pause also at a high point (2260 meters!) for epic mountain pictures.

The next stop is a historic Kasbah – Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified city that’s been in movies like Gladiator! After exploring this ancient site, we’ll continue through Ouarzazate and Ait Saouen before finally reaching Zagora, the gateway to our desert experience.

Here’s the exciting part! We’ll trade our comfy van for a traditional camel ride. Imagine exploring the desert like the Berbers have for centuries, feeling the gentle sway as your camel treks across the golden sands. Before heading to the camp, we’ll hop back in the car (luggage included!) to make our way to our cozy desert tents nestled amongst the dunes.

On day two, we’ll head back towards Marrakech, but not before a couple more cool stops! First up is Agdez, a town famous for being one of Morocco’s biggest sources of date palm trees. We’ll see endless groves of these majestic trees and maybe even grab some delicious dates to snack on.

Since we didn’t have time yesterday, we’ll make also a stop in Ouarzazate to explore this interesting city. Nicknamed “Hollywood” for a reason, Ouarzazate is a hotspot for filmmakers, You might recognize some of the scenery from movies!

Finally, it’s time to cruise back to Marrakech, where our amazing 2-day adventure ends. Get ready for a head full of memories – breathtaking mountains, historic Kasbahs, unforgettable camel rides, and a magical night under the desert stars!

Tizi n’Tichka, meaning “Pass of the Pastures” in Berber, is a mountain pass in Morocco that stands at an elevation of 2,260 meters (7,415 feet) above sea level. It is located on the N9 highway, which connects the city of Marrakech to Ouarzazate and beyond. Tizi n’Tichka is the highest paved mountain pass in Morocco and offers stunning views of the surrounding High Atlas Mountains.

The pass has been used for centuries by travelers and traders, and it is still an important transportation route today. The winding road that leads up to the pass is a popular destination for cyclists and motorcyclists, and the area is also a popular spot for hiking and camping. In the winter, the pass can be snowed in, and it is sometimes closed to traffic.

The town of Zagora sits on the edge of the Sahara Desert in Morocco, like a gateway to a whole new world. Unlike Merzouga, famous for its giant dunes, Zagora has a wilder, pre-desert kind of beauty. Imagine golden plains dotted with palm trees, and ancient Kasbahs (old fortified villages) standing guard like silent giants. Zagora is also the entrance to the Draa Valley, a lush oasis overflowing with date palm groves. Here, you’ll find Berber villages nestled in the foothills of the Anti-Atlas Mountains. Time seems to slow down in this region, offering a chance to experience the traditional Berber way of life, where things move at a relaxed and peaceful pace.

Imagine a giant castle made of mudbrick, all nestled against a mountain backdrop that looks straight out of a movie! This is Ait Ben Haddou, a real-life fortified village in Morocco with a history stretching back hundreds of years. Back in the day, it was a key stop on busy trade routes, filled with merchants and travelers. Now, it stands as a silent guardian, whispering tales of Morocco’s rich past.

The Kasbah is a maze of narrow alleyways, with towering walls and houses decorated in amazing detail. As you wander through its passageways, imagine what life was like centuries ago. Ait BenHaddou ‘s unique architecture and dramatic setting are so cool, they’ve even been featured in famous movies!
