Day 6: Merzouga desert tour

After a loooong trip, we finally made it to Merzouga! That’s where our desert guides were waiting to take us on an adventure.

Around 5 pm, we hopped on camels and set off through the desert. The sunset was incredible – fiery colors everywhere! After about an hour and a half, we reached the camp. It was dark by then, so we stashed our stuff in the tents (Hamas) and headed straight for dinner. It was delicious!

But the best part was after dinner. The guides put on a concert for us, and then they even taught us how to play the drums! Finally, the most magical moment arrived: gazing up at a sky filled with a million twinkling stars.

Seriously, it was an unforgettable experience with the coolest guides ever. Doing this again!

My sister and I were warmly welcomed by the staff and Berber guides. We led us through the breathtaking Sahara on camels, finally reaching our campsite. The vast golden sands stretched as far as the eye could see, and we soaked it all in before dinner. The staff prepared a delicious tagine, a traditional Moroccan stew, while we relaxed on the dunes. After dinner, under a blanket of stars, our hosts invited us to gather around a fire. They played traditional Moroccan music on drums, and the night came alive with laughter and dancing. Mustapha, one of the Berbers, even patiently taught us all how to drum a few beats. It was an amazing experience, and riding camels back as the sun rose over the horizon was the perfect ending to our adventure.
