Your driver will pick you up early from your hotel or riad in Marrakech. The adventure begins as you travel through the High Atlas Mountains via the famous Tizi N’Tichka Pass (2,260 meters). Along the way, enjoy spectacular mountain views, Berber villages built into the hillsides, and winding roads leading to Morocco’s southern plains.
Your first major stop will be the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its ancient architecture and role in many famous films. After exploring this remarkable village, continue to Ouarzazate, often called the “Hollywood of Africa,” where you can visit the Taourirt Kasbah and film studios.
In the afternoon, the journey continues through Skoura Oasis and the Valley of Roses, famous for its rosewater production. As the sun begins to set, arrive in the Dades Valley, known for its impressive rock formations and scenic views. Dinner and overnight stay at a traditional hotel or riad in Dades.
After breakfast, depart from Dades Valley towards Tinghir and explore the magnificent Todra Gorges, a canyon carved by the Todra River with cliffs rising up to 300 meters. It’s a perfect spot for photos and a short walk through the gorge.
Continue your journey through the desert towns of Tinjdad, Erfoud, and Rissani, famous for their traditional markets and fossils. By afternoon, you’ll reach Merzouga, where the vast dunes of Erg Chebbi rise before you.
Here, your desert adventure begins. Ride a camel through the dunes as the sun sets over the Sahara. After arriving at your desert camp, enjoy mint tea, a delicious Moroccan dinner, and live Berber music around the campfire. Spend the night in a comfortable nomadic tent under a sky full of stars.
Wake up early to witness the breathtaking sunrise over the Sahara Desert, one of the highlights of the trip. After breakfast at the camp, ride your camel (or take a 4×4) back to Merzouga village.
From there, start your journey back to Marrakech, passing through Alnif, N’Kob, and the beautiful Draa Valley, filled with thousands of palm trees and ancient kasbahs. Stop for photos and short breaks along the way before continuing through the Anti-Atlas Mountains and reaching Marrakech in the evening.

The desert camp in Merzouga was peaceful, with cozy tents and excellent food. Watching the sunrise over the dunes was the perfect ending to this adventure. Every detail was handled with care, and we felt safe and well taken care of the entire time. A must-do tour for anyone visiting Morocco!

This trip was the best part of our visit to Morocco. The route from Marrakech to Merzouga was beautiful, with stops in Ouarzazate, Todra Gorges, and small Berber villages. Our driver was very friendly, always explaining local traditions and making sure we were comfortable. Spending the night in the desert was a dream come true — dancing around the campfire, enjoying Berber music, and watching the stars. Everything went smoothly and exceeded our expectations.
