Day 2: Day 2: Merzouga to Rissani and back

On day two, we head to Rissani, an ancient town. We’ll check out the bustling market and learn about the town’s history. We might be invited to a local’s home for lunch and try Berber pizza (Al Madfouna) – yummy! The rest of the day is yours to relax or explore more of the area.

Day 3: Full day to explore Merzouga

Day three is all about adventure! We’ll wake up early to see the sunrise over the desert – a sight you won’t forget. After breakfast, we’ll visit a village where people from South Africa live and listen to their cool music. Then, we’ll set off on a 4×4 adventure through the desert, stopping at an abandoned French village, a mine where eye makeup is made, and even having tea with a nomadic family! In the afternoon, we hop on camels again to explore more of the desert and enjoy the incredible scenery. Dinner will be at the camp, followed by music and stories around a campfire – perfect for ending an epic day!

Ifrane is a mountain town nestled high in Morocco’s Middle Atlas Mountains. Ifrane is your spot! The French built this town during colonial times as a summer escape from the scorching heat. Fun fact means “caves” in the local Berber language! Today, Ifrane is a charming mix of things: a university town, a mountain resort, and a place where many government offices are located. You might even see some athletes training at high altitudes here!

Merzouga

This 4-day trip from Fes to Merzouga with Trips around Morocco was EPIC! We won’t forget it ever. Our driver, Zayn, was awesome. He picked us up in Fes and made us feel super welcome. We jammed out to our music (even if it wasn’t his style) and he was cool! Zayn went above and beyond to help us, even finding an ATM when my credit card decided to quit.

The whole trip was amazing. The hotels were great, the food was delicious, and we felt like royalty. Plus, the days were flexible if we wanted to skip something or spend more time somewhere, Zayn made it happen. Trips around Morocco and Zayn were the best! We’d do it all again in a heartbeat!

Our 4 day Fes to Merzouga tour was the best part of our entire Morocco trip! Everything was super organized, and my sister and I could easily contact Mohamed whenever we had questions.

On the first day, our guide Hamid met us at our hotel in Fes exactly at 8 AM, just like we planned. He was so much fun to be with, and always happy to pull over for pictures or even let us pet some camels! We had a good time driving but we saw how the landscape changed throughout the trip. The absolute highlight though, was the Sahara Desert! We rode camels across the Erg Chebbi dunes and even spent a night at a desert camp. It was an amazing experience!
